Every question here is about photoshop?

So sorry to upset people heres a ';photography'; question.

What does ratio mean in relation to portraiture?Every question here is about photoshop?
Hey!

You are right. If the photographers got it right in the camera, they would not need Photoshop.

SAVING images using a darkroom is a very poor business model. You will go broke ... the cost of the cameras and lenses will be eclipsed by the cost of darkroom work necessary to correct all the mistakes.

Lighting ratio?

1:2 is usually used in glamour photography, 1:3 standard (if there is such a thing) and 1:4 and up for dramatic images.Every question here is about photoshop?
If you get the subject too close to the camera the ratio of their nose to the rest of their face will be all out of whack. You could fix that in Photoshop, though.
to me, every question here about pregnancy.
I like Dr Sam's answer!! The other ratio is the lighting ratio to give effective contrast between the lightest and darkest parts of the portrait. If the ratio is too small or doesn't exist, there is no contrast to highlight the structure of the face, and the portrait will be characterless.

A ratio of 3:1 or 4:1 will still allow the film/sensor to capture the details in the darker areas without overexposing the lighter areas of the image.
